In 2012, in Hluhluwe, Zululand at a Bikes race event that Ilze’s ​parents arrange, a pair of superga takkie shoes became a ​conversation starter. I remember Kyle saying he has NEVER met ​anyone who talks that much and is soooo friendly! We still ​can't remember who gave Kyle my number but the rest is ​history.

Thanks Dad for your dedication at Estiaans Motorbike career ​and Mamma, for calling me to bring you koffie because “there's ​a cute guy at the pitstop!”.

In 2013, Kyle asked me to be his girlfriend - this was my first ​relationship and first official boyfriend!

Our 20's wasn't all sunshine and roses but we knew we always ​had each other to lean on during those years.

We grew up -becoming adults slowly, one lesson at a time.

We pushed each other to improve our work ethics and study ​further, always clapping for the other and always believing the ​other could do it.

A huge part of our first 6 years was long distance - not living in ​the same town or province and sometimes not even being in the ​same country. But our love grew and we learnt how to love ​unconditionally.

In 2017, the unthinkable hit our lives - Ilze and her dad were ​both diagnosed with cancer. Those few years were definitely a ​blur of heartache, great loss, perseverance, and change. It all ​shaped how we think and lived our lives.

But, every cloud has a silver lining and it was time we were ​together. Kyle moved from JHB to Toti and we officially moved ​in together! We grew so much, learned so much about each ​other and we are both extremely proud of where we now find ​ourselves.

We have made so many memories but the stoep kuiers will ​always be our favorite.

After 12 years of commitment, in 2023, on the 31st of December ​Kyle went down on one knee, in the rain and asked me to be his ​wife! We entered 2024 engaged!

So now that we have done the “for better or worse”, “joy or ​sorrow”, “richer and poorer”, “in sickness and health”, we can't ​wait to make it official - till death do us part.
